I have same thing going on with my 2004 SL500, So far looks like front right SAM and its wiring is fried, someone at auction probably jumped it wrong since both terminals on front battery are black and only has a pressed in logo of + and - , somebody without paying attention hooked up a jumper and boom.

Had to pull wiring from front sam and follow it down to under the carpet, have to cut and replace it with new wiring since there is like 6 wires completly burned thru.

Thanks for sharing. This w209 CLK500 been down since 8/11/19.
Was informed by many such as yourself, that it's behavior stems from the front Sam.
I finally found one on eBay that will match up.
Hopefully, by krishna's Grace, it works. Hari Bol
I suggest you check ebay, to save money rather than the dealer or local junk yard.

Respectfully and appreciative
Arjuna

Appreciate for looking out !

Managed to located a local guy in Orlando FL who had few SL500/550 for part out. For my luck he purchased a 2004 SL500 next day after meeting him, Wouldn't worked out any better. I was lucky to get a part number matching front SAM with wiring harness. Cut it out from the donor vehicle as far as possible and started patching up my own wiring. Probably ended up replacing 15 or more wires. Everything nicely patched up, key in the ignition and it cranked right up, no CEL,no hesitation nor warning lights. I used to get ABS, ABS,ESP warning lights before all that. Attached a picture of the healthy donor sam with harness. Hope someone will find my findings helpful ;]

Wow, I very happy for your happiness and relief of stress.
I received the front Sam off eBay, early. I I need to find someone to assist in removing the wiper arm. Then I can drop in this Sam and pray for a result/outcome as yours.

Respectfully Arjuna

Which car do you have, is a wiper arm removal a must ? If it is then its very easy, pop off the cap from the wiper arm to reveal the nut. Most cases its a 13mm nut holding the wiper arm locked undo the wiper arm nut and wiggle the wiper arm so that it becomes loose from holder.

Thank you. It's more intail. It's an 05 CLK500.
Guru Rudney, said, that the wipers should work, regardless of the suction running. The doors to the vehicle must be closed and key in position 2. I tried that and i wasn't successful.
Plus the vehicle been sitting for 4months with battery disconnected.

I'm having this problem now

1-Put key in ignition, everything lights up properly, everything seems ok !
2-Put key in ACC (second click), the cooler fan goes full speed !
3-Try to crank, nothing happens at all !

Here's what i've done:
1-Search online, found a couple similar problems, one fixed it by replacing ECU, other said it was a K40 relay, but never confirmed he fixed it or not.
2-Battery is ok, didn't try another one though.. should I ?
3-Replace the K relay and starter relay, didn't help.

I was thinking about pulling out the ECU to check it for damage, is the ECU the one on the inside of the fuse box (sitting on the wall closer to the fender) ?

it happened once before about 3 months ago, but after a minute it just worked and I couldn't trace it so i forgot about it.

any other ideas ? this is driving me nuts !

did you find out what the issue was ??
