c230K 2005 electrical problem
Hi,
I hope I am writing in the right section of this forum.
I am a proud owner of a 2005 c230K, with 110k Miles, and I have never had any problems with it until today.
Freak situation.
The FOB key was working to open the doors, the radio was working also, but when I inserted the key in the slot, the car wouldn't start. Actually the key wouldn't move. The steering wheel was locked. As if I need to unlock the steering wheel. I tried pressing the break, move the wheel, turn the key, but none of these seemed to work. I even tried pushing in the emergency break.
After several tries, somehow it worked. I'm not sure how.
The car started and I could drive it. However, there was no lights on the dashboard, the windows didn't open/close, the central lock didn't work anymore. After I parked the car, not even the FOB key was working anymore.
Anyone has any idea what this might be?

Hi,
I would suggest checking the fob's batteries if they need to be replaced. If after changing the batteries doesn't solve anything I guess you will need to make a fault scan with MB Star Diagnosis. I'm afraid there may be some issues with the EZS or even SAM module that takes care of internal electronic components like EZS, Radio, etc.

The batteries power the key's unlocking the car. When you insert it into the ignition it uses induction to energize the key.
Have you tried a spare key? Or disassemble the current one and see what's broken (search youtube on how to take it apart)

I did disassembled the key, and it was working fine. I had no idea that the key can freeze the car completely.
The key got a little wet the previous day, I assume that was the cause of the problem.

Something Slow
check your main battery, and Front & Rear SAM.. also check to make sure you don't have water Leaks/moisture Problems Around the CANBUS which is located on the Driver side by your left foot under the carpet..
