Moonroof Lubricant

Moonroof Lubricant
Hey all, have a question. Aside from the Mercedes branded grease the dealership uses to lubricate a powered moonroof, what other safe alternatives can I use? I bought a bottle of the Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease (Red Paste) last night and I'm debating wether it's the correct grease to use. Thanks!

I would only use the MB stuff but that's me. If you search around you should be able to buy a small container of it for not much money. Or talk to your dealer if you have a good relationship with them and you bring in a small container you can usually get it for very cheap or free.

I like to go OEM as much as I can too, but for the most part "consumables" such as grease etc are ok from any source. MB does not manufacture their own grease, they use the same vendors that the parts store brands do.
In my younger days I used to work for an outfit known as discount auto parts in Jax, FL, and they had a parts delivery service to auto shops and dealers in the area. I delivered many shop consumables to a wide variety of clients, ranging from joe jack's auto body shop to german premium car dealers.

Yeah, the dealer want a lot more $ than I'm willing to spend on such a procedure. When you mean white lithium grease, could I use the WD-40 Branded White lithium grease spray?
Or should I stick to another brand? If that's ok, would using WD-40 Silicone spray work as well?
Thanks fellas

I have a small container that i have used on three cars and still have tons left. I use it to clean up the old stuff then once it is dry put a clean coat down.
The Pano Roofs use this stuff to clean and a different one to lube if I remember correctly.

Good looking out, Samaritrey! You're right, I don't want to mess it up. In fact I already used the mobil 1 grease on it yesterday, got too impatient. I'll be buying the grease from your link provided. Thanks
Ps- is there anywhere else on the vehicle you can use this Klueber Polylub GLY 801 ??

I would honestly not use the sun roof until you have the new grease just in case it is causing more strain on it then normal (I doubt it is actually that bad but hey can never be to careful) As for the grease I don't believe it is used any where else but it might be.
