I just got my 03 230K (M271) back from getting it's timing chain, intake valves, and cam magnets replaced after losing compression on 3 of 4 cylinders. It runs perfectly now, even better than it did prior to the work; no chain rattle or any form of valvetrain noise (that my novice ear can detect).
On the highway a couple days ago, it popped on the CEL and my ($7) scanner gave me two codes. One just said "N/A" which I figure means "I don't know what this code is but it's something" and a pending P0010 ("Bank A" cam magnet circuit) code. I erased both codes and kept driving, the light stayed off until yesterday. I haven't looked to see if its the same code(s) yet but I assume they are.

- Is the P0010 telling me that the new intake cam magnet is faulty?
- Am I risking damage to my newly-revived motor by continuing to drive it daily?
- If the cam magnet is not doing its job, does that just mean the intake cam isn't being advanced and is just staying in a preset retarded position that will only cost me some performance/mpg?
