Throttle lag on C200 kompressor
Throttle lag on C200 kompressor
Greetings to everyone who likes driving Mercedes
Here is my story: few days ago when it was rainy I tried so start the engine, but it failed after just a few moments. After the fail all the electricity in the car was not working.
Then I checked my battery and noticed that mechanic forgot to tighten the minus terminal of it. After I moved it a little bit power supply went back and I was able to start the engine and everything seemed to be working normally except of my accelerator.
After pressing the gas pedal it delays for 2-3 seconds. Only then revs start increasing. Also while on a highway it seems that I have lack of power or something as car has difficulties to accelerate from 80 kph. I didn't try it much, but reaching 100 kph would take you quite a lot of time. CEL is also shown on the dashboard.
Today I went to the mechanic and he said that computer shows that TPS (maybe it is something else, but definitely related with throttle body) is faulty.
He informed that there are three possible issues: bad sensor, wiring or damaged ECU.
What are the chances that I will have to look for a new ECU? Is it possible that TPS were damaged during the situation I described in the beginning of the post?
Thank you!

Hello,
I don't know your model year, but you can do a general reset procedure.
1. open hood
2. shut the door (!)
3. wait 5 minutes (CAN bus is going to sleep)
4. disconnect battery
5. get a coffee and wait 10 minutes
6. connect the battery
7. switch on ignition and wait 5 minutes for calibration (you probably hear moving flaps)
8. switch off ignition
This procedure doesn't work for all ECUs, because there are so many different software versions in the field. With the CEL on, this doesn't work, so delete the trouble code before.
Good luck

My car is 2001 C200 kompressor.
I have now my car at service where new accelerator pedal with working TPS will be installed. If this is not going to fix the issue, I will try going through that reset procedure.
By the way, is it normal that my VIN code is not shown in the so called "Secret menu"? All I get is dashes. Is it somehow related to the ecu?
Thanks for tip!

I have the same engine, I don't see the VIN also. I cannot read the VIN over the OBD connector.
The electronics in this model year had problems with spikes in the power supply. Thats why you should wait 5 minutes before disconnect the battery. So, I'm afraid you had bad luck with the loose connector.
