Coolant: Visit Workshop

I recently had my leaking radiator replaced from a local radiator chop due to a crack on the side. A few days later, this message appeared:

"Coolant: Visit Workshop"

After checking with my indy by hooking the car to his STAR, it was concluded that the radiator fan was inoperable.

Has anyone tried those aftermarket OEM radiator fans being sold at eBay or Amazon? When I search for P/N 2035000293, few items are listed that are about half the price of the genuine MB part from online MB dealers or Autohausaz. If anyone have used it or currently installed, please post your experience as to the workmanship and quality. Many thanks

I have the same problem. Does you fan stay at high speed all the time? I've been trying to avoid the dealership mostly because they would charge a fortune, but would replacing the radiator fan solve that problem?

I haven't observed my car if the fan runs high, or even runs at all. With the hood opened, we let the car running for a good 15-20 minutes and waited for the fan to start. It never did and the temp started going up.

On my drive to my indy, the AC was on. When I was stopped in traffic, I noticed the blower started blowing high and the cold air stopped. When I got to the freeway and the drive was continuous with no slow traffic, cold air came back and the blower sounded normal again. My guess is the car gets air in lieu of the fan when in motion.

Looking at the fan, it seems like a pretty straight forward R/R DIY. I'm just waiting for feedback from other forum members that may have tried these aftermarket OEMs being sold in ebay or amazon.

In the meantime, while nobody else chimed in, I think it's better to get an OEM part. Don't try to save money on critical components. Moreover, you will likely not need to replace it for the rest of the car's life

I appreciate your thoughts VVF. I'm actually leaning that way now too. Not having heard from others using aftermarket parts suggests that OEM is the way to go. Thanks😁
