Help..need to buy fuel pumps for C240, which brand is best?
I was told I need new fuel pumps for my 2001 C240. Can someone please tell me which pumps I should buy. On carparts .com there are all different prices and brand names. The expensive one is Bosch. Does anyone know which is the best to buy and most reliable at the lowest cost. I would like to save money. Here is the page with the fuel pumps for my c240...can someone help me decide which to purchase please..I don't know anything about cars and need to save money, out of a job and can't work due to medical issues. Need help figuring what to buy...Do I need a ring and filter too?

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
First get a subscription to the Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalog. The epc is free for America.

Then armed with the correct part number for your car, look to Pelican, RM European, Rock Auto, and Autohaus AZ for a pump for your car. Expect to pay a tad over $ 200 for a good pump. You will need a ring considering the age of yours, and a new fuel filter. (oem only, most others are rubbish)
Hope your medical situation gets better soon.

RMeuropean and AutohausAZ are good; I've been buying from them for many years.
If RMeuropean or Autohaus doesn't sell a part, you can buy genuine Mercedes [and BMW] parts from BMWmercedesparts.com.

You can also try Pelican Parts along with RM and Autohaus they have very good customer service and will make sure you get the right parts.
Also if you didn't know our cars have a fuel pump on one side and a fuel level sensor on the other.
Edit: Guess Pelican beat me to it lol

Thank you. If I only need one fuel pump and sender unit. Which is around $250 ..I wonder why repair shops wanted to charge me $1400-$1600 for this job. If the parts are so much less then what I was quoted. Was I being ripped off?

Dealers' prices can be high - retail prices of genuine parts at the dealer are high; then you add high labor rates and on top of that they will charge the 'book hours' even if the job takes half that time. When you add up all that total price comes out to be quite high.
Any decent mechanic should be able to replace fuel pump on your car within 2 hours. Even if the mechanic is doing the job for the first time, it shouldn't take more than 3 hours. Find an independent mechanic that works on MB cars.
Buy genuine MB fuel pump, large gasket that goes around the pump neck, and collar lock-ring. That collar-lock-ring is what keeps the pump in its place sealed tight.
