Toyota Tacoma & Lexus IS250
what year is your car?
me and a few others had this problem...after 3 fix attempts, my dealer had to replace the entire back window...it took 2 weeks...but I had a free loaner car.
just another example of MB's ridiculous (over) engineering

I was apprehensive to have them replace the window, but I'm glad they did...works perfect now. The job they did was flawless.

I have the same problem. I just took it to the dealer and they told me its because of the tint. I need proof the tint doesnt have any metal. My tint is completly black not metallic. Do you have tinted windows?

It is a pretty sure thing, because the rear window has radio and RF (keys) amps permanently ATTACHED to it.
So the dealers like to blame tinters for the "tint",.... but I believe that sometimes while using their mounting blades they may knock the amps off. Probably has nothing to actually do with the "type" of tint.
Actually the car has a bad design, because they have to replace the whole rear window to fix the amps when they fail for whatever reason. Mine had bad amps on delivery, was replaced, but no tint involved.

2002 C240 6-spd (ret)
Interestingly, my '02 C240 did this for a while -- I had decided to live with it since I only need the defroster once in a while. At some point, the problem disappeared and now the radio works fine w/ the rear defrost on...I think it was only FM reception if I remember...

Metallic tint will cause problems due to it changing the effective recieve range of the antanea. The tint problem really is a problem with the water used to put the tint on is causing damage to the electonic amplifiers. Water no good for electric stuff and metal is no good for placing over a recieve antanae
