-Service A: necessary?-
I was looking at the list of things they do and I realized the major thing they do is an oil change. I mean this car is pretty much new... What could they possibly do even the next 50k miles?
I will take it this time around but If It wasn't free I woudn't even bother with it.
Other opinions?
since its free.... why not do it? they inspect stuff at the same time also.
What is there to inpect seriously? My father started laughing his *** when I told him I was taking my car to the dealer this early for "maintenance"

The car is now absolutely silent (as far as wind noise goes) on the road.
Why not let them check it over? After all, you already paid for the service when you bought the car.

its stupid to drive a ferrari if you can't pay for the brake pads..same rule applies to benzes...
-No, the free maintenance is not part of the Canadian sales process; as far as I know, this is a USA-only program.
-Our dealer in Portland Oregon just completed the A service on our C240. It took about 90 minutes, including the free car wash. Yes, it is mostly an oil change, but they also check brake pad thickness, look for leaks, make sure all the other fluids are topped up, made a really great espresso from their coffee bar, and threw in a chocolate star emblem [yes, it was yummy], all on MBUSA's nickel. So what's not to like?
-Skipping maintenance on these cars is an invitation to trouble down the road; yeah, you could get the oil changed yourself, and eyeball all of the other stuff [I do it pretty routinely every month], but as long as they're paying, and the car is under warranty, what's the point? I know dealership location and hassle can play into this, but our car went over a year without seeing the inside of the service dept...this seemed like a modest enough investment in time.
What do you mean "this early"??? First Service A is at 10 THOUSAND miles... that's waaaay more than most other manufacturers recommend. Most will tell you to bring it in at 3 or 5K, at your own dime. Can't say I understand your line of thought. One thing is certain, I will never buy a car from you or your family (no disrespect intended)
Maybe you should reread my post and take a comprehension class.

My service A was done at work. I didn't have time to take it in, and they sent a maintenance man out to my job and did everything in the parking lot. That is what I call service.....
Umm yea.... I don't think you did understand.

I would side with the dealer if you don't stick to what is required minimum service for free.
