Looks nice! Did taking the mesh out by the throttle body make any kind of noticeable difference? Did you have to cut the mesh out or does it just "pop" out?
It was easy to do. Undo the 3 bolts on that connects the plastic elbow to the throttle body, take off the 2 clips that connects that elbow to the air senser, inside that you'll find the mesh crap, it does just pop out, I used a screwdriver to tap it out from the inside. It probably didn't do much for performance, but it did look like it would slow air down being inside.
That sucks sorry but insurance will take care of it (assuming you still have coverage on it) Shouldn't be too bad to fix as it looks to be a light hit.
Someone hit my car today too but lucky for me it buffed right out.
Yeah it's covered, some big pick up truck cut his turn way to short and cliped my bumper, lucky a cop camping in the parking lot saw the whole thing and he ended up being arrested for a warrant and other charges. Lolz double bad night for that guy
Sorry to hear that someone hit your car! At least they identified the guy.
Thanks for the pictures for removal of that screen. Behind that plastic screen is another metal mesh type screen as well... I wonder if that can be removed? I would think that one would slow the air down even more than the black plastic one.
I would like to do a S/C silencer removal. But accurate Info on doing that is not possible to find
This is something I want to do as well - but I have also read somewhere that the C230 needs some sort of back pressure from the S/C that is produced by the silencer, so if that is true I'm not sure if that would harm performance?
Unfortunately, I would say that the answer to that question (like most MB mod questions) is that any sample size would be too small to make any generalizations about what works and what doesn't.
I'd be very hesitant about removing both screens for the MAF. They get dirty pretty easily.

You need to reset the Throttle Actuator after doing the silencer removal, your car will go into limp mode as for the Actuator will control the back pressure for the S/C.
As for the MAF screen being dirty. Idk mine was to clean to be true, I'd say just make sure your seals aren't leaking and use a good air filter

Do you know where I can find the procedure to do the throttle actuator reset?

https://youtu.be/-dQjom7wZbQ skip to 4.30 or just watch the whole video if you don't know how to remove everything to get to it..... LMK if you need any help. Idk where this "silencer" is, people claim they have done it but no one says where exactly it is or what it looks like, if you have any idea LMK cos I took it all apart and saw nothing

I see you own the m271 c230 (1.8L s/c). I own the m111 c230 (2.3L s/c). I do know of a recall on the m271 c230s for a camshaft problem. You should call a MB dealer and have them run your vin to see if yours is one that falls under that recall. I'm 90% it would be free work done. I'd just check anyways, better safe than sorry. They do have a thread on vin numbers for this recall, you should look into that

Ugh - I thought that was in regard to the 05-07 V6 engines... I guess I'll have to ask someone to see if mine falls into the range - which knowing my "luck" it will.

Thanks for the heads up.
I did do a quick search, it was for the m272 not the m271, I think your jn the clear, Lol my bad if I scared you
My new shift knob, was a pain in the *** to install, cos if you know these oem knobs aren't swist off knobs, had to cut/grind/fit a screw bolt on to the post so the knob screws on right, but it came out great and don't know if any one saw but my leather cup holder flap broke so I found a wood trim cup holder flap out of a c240 at the scrap yard and painted it black and that came out/ looks really good
