extended warranty from Mercedes????

extended warranty from Mercedes????
Hi
I am looking to buy an extended warranty and have been contacting some Mercedes dealers to get a quote.
Some dealers are giving quotes and some are saying that I can not buy a Mercedes extended warranty since I am not the first owner of the car (I will buy it from second owner, so I will be the third owner).
My question is does it matter which number of owner I am? If the car is still under original factory warranty, cant anyone get an extended warranty? Some dealers even say that I cant be enrolled through Mercedes but they have their underwriter who can still give me warranty. What kind of warranty is that? Is it as good as Mercedes extended warranty?
Also if someone has some personal experience with good warranties, let me know. I found some results from this forum about good deals with extended warranties but most of them are very old. Was wondering if anyone can help with recent information.
