MB C180 Komp 2003: Creaking Noise
I have a 2003, C180 Kompressor. I have had it just over a year, and prior to that it had one owner.
This past week I have noticed a weird occurrence. There is a creaking sound coming from the car. It sounds like someone is walking on wooden floors. It is not a grinding, snapping, clunking, etc sound...it is a wooden floor creaking sound.
The sound happens when:
- The car has stopped and the steering wheel is turned left or right.
- The car brakes on a decline.
- The steering wheel is turned to the right while driving.
- Briefly, when going over a speed hump.
I am freaking out as to what it could be. It sounds like it is coming from the front, driver's side wheel area but I could be wrong.
I know next-to-nothing about cars and so would appreciate any help, advice, price of parts, etc.

Sounds like a suspension issue. I have the same thing happening to mine and it is especially noticeable when driving over a speed bump. My car does have cracks in the front springs that causes them to not decompress fully and I believe an issue with both front control arms. Waiting to fix that next spring because Michigan roads are a warzone in the winter time.
