bad jump start. sparks, smoke, heated cables
Hi,
Today I jumpstarted my car wrong. I believe the doner cars cables were on the opposite terminal. Red to black.
I had sparks, smoking and cables were so hot.
Reading around i see alot of people have done serious damage.
What should i inspect for damge? Everything seems to be fine, but i also read problema may still be on the way.
So what can i inspect for damage?

My SL550 displayed the dreaded red battery on the right side of the dashboard display and I checked both batteries, with and without the engine running. With the engine running both had good voltage - about 14, but engine off only the front starter battery was well above 12V. A new rear
battery along with a code reset did the job. All good now.
BTW, if anyone needs a battery and is near San Jose, CA. The place to go is Bobcat Batteries. For the replacement AGM battery that looks identical to the MB one, I paid $40, which is infinitely less than anywhere else.
