A couple days ago in she-who-must-be-obeyed '06 C230, CEL came on. DAS reported code "1089 - Purge control system has a slight leak (minor leak) (P0456)". Cleared the code but it returned a day or two later, so it's real. Haven't dove into this one yet; hoping to get a few leads here before I get started on it this weekend. Any input appreciated and thanks in advance.

You need a smoke tester to accurately diagnose this. Could be anything from gas cap leak, charcoal cannister, purge valve, filler neck, tank covers, etc etc.

Tried erasing the code. Keeps comming back.
Need to know if it's the purge control valve or the Charcoal canister that need replacement? Or both?
