I would like to know why a lot of MB models (including mine) have the automatic indications (PRD etc) on the left side of the gearstick in a right hand drive car and the reverse in a left hand drive car.
Is it possible to change the indicator to have a righ hand drive with a right sided indicator.

Thank you for that information.
I guess there is a possibility of interchangeability. I will look into it. If anyone else has an idea where one might obtain one other than having to go to the expense of purchasing a new one, I would like to hear from them.

Thank you once again for suggesting UK junk yards, as I live in Melbourne Australia I would check out here first then if not lucky I will have a look. Does anyone actually know what this part is called.

What are you referring to exactly? Just looked at some interior shots of a RHD W203 and the gear indicator is to the L of the auto stick shift, which is the same as for a LHD car.
