power steering

I took my car to this workshop where they had to take out its long groove belt to repair tensioner. They shifted the car from one place to 25 meters away without cranking the engine and the steering was really hard, obviously. They used all their strength to turn the car and park it elsewhere. When the car was fixed and after I started the engine, I feel now that the steering is not so smooth and gives minute jerks at the extremes. Could this be due to turning the car at idle applying so much unnecessary force on the steering?
