Climate Control Reset Not working

Climate Control Reset Not working
So today I was installing my new navigation unit. So in order to do that I had to rip apart the center control..... naturally. When I assembled everything back togehter I noticed my fan was just blowing air on the ground regardless of speed or vent selection.
So i did my reseach and found the reset sequence, I held down the recirc and defrost for >5 sec till flashing while key is in position 2. But the lights never stop flashing after couple minutes and it never resets.
I read that I have to go to the dealer to reset this now
is this true
