A bucket on wheels
yeah the supercharger engages and if you hit the kick down then te car will downshift to the appropriate gear. I would fallow the proper break in though if it is sitll not broken in. welcome to the boards

No it is the electronic throttle. It is a little slow off the get go on an Auto trannied MB. This is due to the fact that these are supposed to be luxury cars not sports cars. Although MB offers sportier models they are not a Vette or a Lambo. The AMG's have diferent programming in the tranny that eliminates most of this. Also the 1.8L SC'ed engine is not a tourque montser at low RPM's so this of course also has an effect. I do not have the lag you speak of on my car though as I opted for the direct connection between the engine and the rear diff. That would be the manual tranny.

most mb's do have a second lag when kicking it down fully. it's the tranny adjusting to the right gear to get max acceleration. like what mctwin2kman said, MB's are made for smooth acceleration, not 'vet like acceleration (except for the AMG's with the tranny programming).
also, if it's brand new, you probably shouldn't push the engine like that all the time cuz it needs proper break in. I believe the manual says 1000 miles....take it easy on the car.

it should go away after the break in period, the 1st 1000 miles. my 2003 c320 coupe does that too when i first bought it..

Yeah, it's gotten better after the berakin period, although the lag is still noticeable but it less than a second. The problem goes away when you do the tiptronic thing though, I use that whenever I need to go fast. It's basicalyl like having a really slow-shifting manual, although you probably already knew that.
