Picked her up today but...

Picked up my car today exactly in the time-frame indicated by the dealer (2 mos.) but, after roughly 10 miles the display turned red, indicating an oil level problem and suggesting immediate service -- S#!t! I pulled over and called my service rep who I just met 1 hour ago. Display turned normal then back to red now saying that my oil level was too high. Sure enough, that was the problem; they drained off some oil and off I was again

Also, my salesman promised not to drill holes in my bumper for the plate but, they did it anyway. Reason-- dealer took some heat recently and didn't want any further trouble. I understood but was disappointed.

Despite the above, the car seems to be great. Will post some pics soon.

no complaints, just caught me off-guard!

Love the car so far. I can't wait to step on it a little bit.

Make them replace the entire bumper, atleast that is what my dad and I did. When my dad got his S600 he specifically said not to drill into the bumper, but they did anyways. He made them replace the entire bumper at no charge. They also drilled into the bumper on my S500 and what do you know, I made them replace the entire bumper.

You think they would learn the first time, but oh well, they replaced it at no charge so I can't complain .

I will raise hell if they drill into my C32.

I would consider this but, the law in NY does require a front plate so it my be a difficult argument to make to the dealer.

Your dealer are not the police, nor the DMV. Fight it! What do you have to loose?

If there's a state law requiring a front plate, it wouldn't surprise me much if there's another law requiring the car to be sold with provisions to mount it?

I dunno, just a thought?

Luckily, Michigan doesn't require a front plate!

D'oh! Wait a minute.. you don't think they'll drill it anyway, do you? I need to make a phone call on Monday!

Leaving the MB supplied plastic front license plate mount in the trunk will meet the requirements of having the "provisions to mount it". No need to make holes.

Of course, my recommendation is to move to a no-front license place state.

California requires a front plate (it helps to identify you on the automated red light violation cameras). My dealer never drills the holes unless you ask them to. I've had many cars without front plates, been stopped and ticketed for various reasons but never received a citation for not having a front plate. Why wouldn't they honor your request not to have holes drilled in the bumper, they are not an agent of the government. I would say that the car has been altered and you don't want it anymore. Tell them to keep it and walk away. In some states like CA the car is not really sold until you drive it off the lot and I wouldn't have driven it off the lot with the holes.

It shouldn't be a big deal for them, take a bumper cover off a new car of the same color and do a swap or just give you a different car. My dealer must of learned this at one time. You to can train your dealer. It takes a series of rewards and treats and if they don't obey, hit them on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and say NO, BAD DEALER!
