What is this ?

Anybody knows what this is and its function ? This is between the 2 windshield water wash despensers.

That's where the sun sensor is supposed to be. I believe on c230 with "simplified" climate control it is just a dummy cover.

Interesting. The reason why i'm asking is because I wanna remove this vent and have it plasti-dipped matte black. It's fairly easy to remove and I just wanted ask before dis-assembling it. Thanks.
