Annoying noise from AC?

Hello, I recently started having an annoying noise coming from the AC(?).

First it started doing a few ticks only when starting up the car. Now it's all insane going on for a few minutes after starting up, while driving.

I tried searching the forums for this, and it seems to be a complicated and expensive fix? Or am I wrong?¨

Could anyone tell me what this is? I'll upload a video.

Thanks in advance

Stepper motor / linkage broken, prepare to fork up to $500-1000 equivalent to fix it unless you DIY.

Read this entire thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...g-hissing.html

Star diagnostics can pinpoint which one of the 6 is broken, requires usually dealer visit. Cheap scanners cant show this. To fix it you need to tear entire dash open depending which motor/link it is

That is the ballpark if one decides to use the dealer. I asked a quote from the dealer and it was $800 for labor and $585 for parts (motors $280 each) totaling $1385. M2/15 and M2/21 were dead

It also depends which motor/link is broken, some are easier to get hold of.

In the end I bought a few used motors for a tenner + one brand new, link pack from my indy and they changed them in around 4 hours @ $75/h

So do you have to use STAR to pinpoint which one of the 6 is broken?

I read something about finding out/feel where it doesn't blow air could also pinpoint this? Or?

That is true, STAR will tell you instantly which one is broken.

There are ways to do it yourself, e.g you get constant heat to footwell no matter what settings the AC has. Then just figure out which motor can cause this. I had this heat-in-the-footwell problem, but STAR also pointed out another motor to be dead which I was unaware of.

DIY guys usually tear the entire dash, run the system and are physically able to see the broken ones. Massive labor required for this causes the dealer prices to skyrocket so DIY is alternative if you are brave
