I know! I heard that when I activated it. Ive had XM in my Jeep since 12/26/2002 (Couldnt wait to install it, so did it the day after I got it!) And we have it in my Dads car, Moms truck, Brothers car, and the Cobra and boat. Couldnt live any longer without it in my car, FM sucks, even in NY! All commercials, or talk radio.

Just got the info on XM's price increase. Its goint to $12.95 a month for the first radio and the following four are still just $6.95 a month. The increase includes Opie and Anthony (was $2 a month) and XM Online (was $4 a month). So if you subscribe to O&A, you only end up paying $1 more! plus you also get XM online... Price doesnt affect me! BTW, When Stern goes on Sirius, its going to be an extra fee so Sirius will once again be more than XM.

you can get a 1-5 year subscription at the current rate though right now, price increase doesn't start until next month, so if you wanna save money you could do that, i pay every 3 months i think, but am gonna probably add the 1 year to it before this month is over to at least get that savings.
-oh yea, and Opie and Anthony Rocks! i was a little disheartened to find out we had to pay extra for them, and was still contemplating whether to do it or not, guess they made the decision for me XM online should be cool too

O&A do kick ***, though not as good as they used to be back in 2000. I think that was their peak in the show. Used to listen to it everyday!
The antenna gets good signal under there, it has a clear line of site to the sky, that covers only plastic and wont affect the signal. The only thing is I dont have the greatest terestrial signal, which only matters if you dont have a good satelite signal. I havent had a problem, but if I do, I can always move the antenna, its not that big of a deal. The Magnet it is right on the metal inside that grill, I think I might pull it out and put a piece of cloth in between so it doesnt scratch the paint.

Personally, I hate that placement! Do you smoke? If not, why didn't you set in in front of the ashtray? It won't fit inside w/ an '05 ashtray housing, but with the door open, it will set along the ledge along the front of the ashtray.

edit - then again, if the magnet is still working through the cloth, i guess it would still work fine after all, forget what i said, sometimes i'm a little

I HATED Sirius. Same songs over and over and over....
Then, all the DJ's talking OVER the music!? WTF?!
XM was a revelation!!!!!
I get Sirius at home for free w/ my Dish Network TV set-up. Listening to it occasionally reminds me how it sucked not having XM

Stick a miniscule ($39!*) Roady in the glovebox and no one will even see it! If I was the only person driving my C230 (and I had the pre-'05 ashtray that I'm trying to get), my Roady would be stay set to "Ethel" and the ashtray door would stay closed

Even if my car's radio was Sirius-ready (already had everything to listen to Sirius, minus the subscription), I'd STILL choose aftermarket XM!
Sirius' chatterbox DJ's and song repetition RUINS the experience!!!!!

Sirius doesn't suit me. It's like FM, but w/o the commercials. When I'm occasionally "forced" to listen to FM, and I hear the DJ trying so hard to sound funny and "hip", it makes my skin crawl!

i hate my SE T637 phone, but i love my UHI. same thing i guess. ill deal with it.
as a matter of fact, i never take my phone out of the cradle. i hate the phone so much, i dont like carrying it around. it sits in my car and is pretty much just a car phone.

Pictures offline
Not sure why my install pictures are off-line but it has been a long while since I had looked. I have really enjoyed the ashtray install, extremely clean. As long as we are weighing in, I have both XM and Sirius and prefer Sirius. My gal prefers XM, neither of us is extremely passionate about our preference as there are more similarities than differences and they both are far superior to over the air stations. Not that my opinion should make a bit of difference to anyone else, personal preference is a wonderful thing. My lease is up on this car on the 15th and I am going to be moving to the CLK forum Looking forward to having Sirius integrated in the command system. I will see if I can get the pics back up if I get a chance.

Do you really think a CLK is worth the $20,000 premium over a C230 sedan or C320 hatchback ?!!!!!

Yes
Obviously… As I stated personal preference is a wonderful thing. I am glad you are happy with your choice, as I have been for the past three years. Now I am choosing to get a CLK 320 Cab with a bunch of toys. Not sure why it would bather you one way or another.

i prefer XM to Sirius and always have since the first time i compared the two, more stations, 100% commercial free, and cheaper (soon to change ) i also believe they play more music because of less DJ talking, one of the big selling points for Sirius is their DJs, they have former MTV VJs and such on their station, which doesn't appeal to me at all, since the entire reason i went with Satellite radio was for the music (Opie and Anthony and Stern are my exceptions , but i prefer Opie and Anthony any day), anyway, that's just me, everyone has their own preference i guess, and while it doesn't show up on the MFD and the steering wheel controls dont work except for the volume, it doesn't bother me a bit, my setup basically looks stock and it comes with a remote so i dont have to reach down every time to change stations anyway

WHERE did I say it "bothered" me?
I simply asked if you really thought a CLK is worth the $20,000 premium over a C230 sedan or C320 hatchback.

Yes, again
My fault. I was assuming that intuitively one would infer that is was worth it to me if I had made the decision to purchase one and alternately perceived that it “Bothered” you (maybe not the best choice of words) if it was significant enough for you to comment on. I did not intend on fanning any flames.

People buy things for all kinds of reasons, often knowing what they are buying is ridiculously overpriced, but wanting it anyway. I was just curious if you thought a C-class sized and powered CLK was actually "worth" over $46K, or if you just wanted it so bad that price wasn't an issue.
