after another week at the shop and buying another a/c control unit, it still isnt blowing cold air although everything seems to be kicking on. Now it's too cold for it to matter but still annoyed nonetheless....
also, learned that the common gasket leak towards the rear of the motor is happening, causing burning oil smell in the cabin if the air/heat is on and recirc is off....
Car is still a great little commuter despite those issues...

The new issue is it probably needs new rear struts and the transmission / shift knob sensor is acting up. Doesnt go into R right away you need to play with the knob a little bit before it engages R.
I tried to put LED bulbs in the headlights/high beams but only the driver side work. The passenger side turn on and off every 5 seconds. Just going to switch back to stock.
german cars are annoying.

Currently having my mechanic replace the pass side headlight harness (again) after the new bulbs apparently confused the computer controlling the lights enough that it had t be replaced. I am going to just run stock spec light bulbs and probably install an entirely separate aux driving lamp on a separate switch to use when the stock lights arent doing it for me.
A/C still leaking, lol.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Any lights drawing less than 55w will cause them to flicker.
Car is too smart.
You need to set to Bi xenon "ON" and then any lights will work.
All that does is keep it from turning off the lights, since Bix only use 35w.
This requires the DAS system to change it.
Bring some beer, or tequila or a good bottle of wine and instructions to your mechanic.
They're around here somewhere.
Ah, found it.
These are the menu's needed to access the Bix setting.
1. EIS- Electronic Ignition Switch
2. Control Unit Adapations
3. Read Coding and change if necessary
4. All Codes
5. Xenon Headlamp- (Change to "present")
Ever figure out what the noise was at 60mph?
Why did prev owner disconnect the horn?

The horn I am not sure but I put in a replacement and everything works fine.
The humming I am not too sure it seems to only come back on very warm days when driving on the highway for a bit.
