Hello this is my 2nd Mercedes and I've never had this problem.. I can lock and unlock my doors and trunk but the dash doesn't even light up anymore when I stick the fob in the ignition, this problem happened out of nowhere. Should I change EIS? And will I have to get a NEW KEY? with NEW EIS ignition Part And why would key Be recognized for doors and trunk and not ignition?

Although I don't think it's a fuse, you may want to check fuse 31 and 42 in the interior fuse box--other than that you are correct, when you turn the key there is a CAN message saying turn on the cockpit voltage distribution which the IC is connected.

Threrefore something is not getting the message and the only way I know to understand why is to use DAS Xentry diagnostic tool to make that determination!!

Well thats what I would do!!

Thank you lots, I will try fuses just to see and if that doesn't work ship to Mercedes dealer for diagnostics test ..
