Mercedes C180K Coupe
C180K Coupe Problem

Hi everyone,

I am new member here. I have 2003 C180 Kompressor Coupe. Before one week the check engine light turns on. I was driving my car like that maybe 100 km and yesterday the light turns off just like that from nothing. What it can be? Please advise if someone knows what I need to do? Do I need to worry about that?
And my other question is when I am driving the car goes smoothly but when I am stopping on the lights I feel little shaking and it feels like on the manual car when is going to turn off when you are stopping without clutch but because my car is automatic is not turning off but it feels like that. What it can be the problem? Can I fixed the problem by myself with trying something or I need to go to the mechanic?

I have 2003 c200 kompressor coupe and its drive 155 xxx kms and to answer your first problem...I don't know, could be faulty wiring, bad battery, regulator spike or faulty switch (sorry not much help). But the second problem I had the exact same problem. Whenever I was at the lights or at a stop the car would feel like its about to stall and then it would go into limp mode then I had to turn it off and turn it back on and the car would go back to normal. The only way to avoid it was to leave it in N while at a stop.

The most common problem would be a build up of residue on your valves which are causing it to stick which in turn causing a bad mixture inside the cylinder and making it fire with less pressure

To solve it or reduce it would be to get a bottle of valve cleaner from your local auto store and pour it in your fuel tank and drive hard, like drive at high RPMs to make sure it burns off any left over residue.

The second common problem (which was how I finally solved my issue ) is that the timing belt will cause a cylinder head to misfire or misplace which will give it that really rough idle. For me it was a bad alternator clutch pulley which would only go one way and cause a loud idle. I changed the alternator clutch pulley and the Idler Pulley as well as the Tension er Pulley and the belt while I was there. Easy job you could do it yourself

watch this pulley to determine if your alternator clutch pulley is bad.
