New tires, terrible gas mileage

I purchased my 2005 with the same size tires all the way around and the gas mileage was superb. I was getting 32-36 MPG. Due to the rough ride, I purchased new Michelins and went with the standard size on the front and on the back. My gas mileage plummeted down to 22-24 MPG. I have also noticed longer shift times and higher RPM's. Suggestions?

Are you using correct tire pressure?

Something else happened. Tires simply cannot make that much of a difference in fuel efficiency.

Tire size, pressure and tread pattern/style could account for maybe 2-5% change in mileage, but the OP is seeing a 30-35% change. It isn't the tires.

Yep. Correct tire pressure as recommended.
Gas mileage changed as soon as the tires were put on and I started driving home. I always have the gas mileage on.
