anyone do an amg motor swap?
Hey
I have a 2003 C230k Coupe (1.8L engine), and i find that my car is too slow. So, I was thinking of an engine swap. Is it possible to fit the C32AMG engine into my car? if yes, how much would everything come up to be. also, would be possible to have it be stickshift instead of the usual auto/tiptronic that the AMG comes with?
thanks in advance

Terry aka Kineda is pursuing a C32 Engine swap in his 2002 C230K Coupe. He is doing this because he would rather keep the coupe because he likes it and have the C32 Engine and Power. It is also more kost effective to do the swap rather than trade in his coupe for a C320 Coupe and add the Kleemann SC. Plus the C32 produces more power and he can keep his 6 speed tranny.

Why would it not be able to. It is not that much power! The clutch probably won't but he would probably put in a better clutch with a lighter fly-wheel and better material.

yes,you can fit the C32's engine in your
C230K.Then the hard part begins-getting all the mismatched hardware systems and software to work together.Assuming you accomplish all this(doubtful),you'll then find out where the weakest link is in your driveline. My money's on the 3rd member breaking first.
The best solution in your quest for a faster Mercedes is to simply buy one.

the 32 AMG engine will cost you more than $6-7k if not at least. After all the work etc etc you'd be looking at whole lot more $$ than buying a used C32 probably.
I'd go to Brabus to get the CV8 coupe if i'm looking to spent that kind of money on engine swap.

Frank the problem I think is the fact that you of course can not get a C32 Sport Coupe here in the states. Also, does anyone know if Europe has any AMG's with a standard shift tranny. I mean don't they put them in S class and E class over in Europe. So if an S500 could have a 6 speed or a 5 speed stick why would a 6 speed not be able to handle the power? I am not sure of what you can get in Europe but remember just because a part is not available in the US does not mean it does not work or will break. Europe has a C32 and C30 AMG coupe's? Not sure what trannies are available though.

I suspect that the 6-speed from a C230 wouldn't work because it is not the same tranny as the 6-speed tranny used in the E and S-Classes.
This from Road & Track about the C32:
"As there is no readily available manual gearbox in the Mercedes-Benz parts bin designed to transmit the C32 engine’s 332 lb.-ft. of torque, AMG has upgraded the C320’s 5-speed automatic transmission to make it acceptable for the enthusiast driver."
I think their information is better than our speculation on the availability of Mercedes' transmissions, but who knows?

I guess I just expect the 6 speed to be able to handle that amount of power. It should not be that bad a tranny, there has to be something there that is good about it. I actaully like the 6 speed tranny in these cars. And when I can afford an AMG in a few years time after I pay some other **** off I would love to be able to get a manual in an AMG. But I guess I will have to settle for a CLK55 with an Auto in it..... Oh well.

don't think the S600 or S500 has manual availiable nowaday in Europe. I only know they have the SMG for the E240 etc lower displacement cars and manual trans for the 320s.
