HELP! Has anyone installed aftermarket changer??
I am looking to get a mp3 changer, was thinking of getting a head unit but hate to give up the steering wheel function. Has anyone installed an aftermarket changer? Is there an adaptor for it? How about the JVC with FM modulator? Please advice. Thanks

You can use any aftermarket changer with FM modulater but will lose your steering wheel controls. Mercedes is the only one that makes the fiber optic changer for our cars. Most aftermarket changer don't use fiberoptic connections even though they have a output.

Usually not worth it for the reasons already mentioned plus it may not fit in the glove box. More expensive units do but then they cost more so what's the point. Also good FM mods aren't cheap plus at $25 for the cost of antenna adapters. If you want an MB friendly aftermarket CD changer check the Becker Silverstone, it's probably about $50 cheaper than the MB counterpart but I don't think it fits the glove box so you'll have to run fiber to the trunk or under the seat.

Thanks for the advice, but I think I am going for the JVC one with the RF modulator. That way I can still use the steering volume control, even tho I may lose the sound quality but I am tired of the radio station and regular CDs.
