This is a newbie question and I apologize if it has been answered before.

I want to try and diagnose the dreaded balance shaft issue with the M272 engine. I'm just wondering, does adjusting the crankshaft to 305 degrees require a special tool or is a regular ratchet enough? If I can use a regular ratchet what size attachment do I need?

Hey bro, before you screw things up why not check your VIN to determine whether your engine is affected!!

You will need all sorts of special tools, I strongly advise that you visit startek.com and review all the documentation for the monumental job!!

To rotate the crankshaft to 305 is a monumental job? I think we may have got our wires crossed here. I'm not trying to replace the balance shaft. I I just want to diagnose if I have a balance shaft issue. To do this I need to rotate the crankshaft to 305 and check the cam positions with the camshaft sensors removed.

All I need to know is if anyone knows the bolt size on the crankshaft that I have to rotate? Or does it require a special tool?
