My poor C230

I just had the preliminary estimate from a certified MB collision center. They said a little over $8000 so far.
I am the original owner and have retrofitted folding rear view mirrors, bi-xenon lights, Kleemann header, ECU tune and boost kit, COMAND, Sirius satellite radio, and phone Bluetooth.
Do I fix it (it has 125000 miles), or do I take the insurance check and sell the car as is, and purchase a car a newer car that has a CPO warranty? I just put a lot of money into this car, with new motor mounts, transmission mount, new battery, new front suspension arms, and pretty new tires. Mechanically, this car is very sound and the engine and transmission are fine.

Trunk itself, you can just get one from LKQ exact same color, bolt on.
I crunched my trunk, got $2300 in insurance to repair the hatch. Then just got the whole hatch for $450. Installed it myself, but much more involved than just the trunk, since I have window, defroster, and antenna to deal with.
See what estimates you can get (for yourself not insurance company) to repair the inside of the boot with you providing a trunk lid. No real electronics there or anything....so...
shouldn't be such a big deal. I'd think you could walk away with some money in your pocket if they don't insist on scrapping it.
Check car-parts.com for the trunk.
LKQ will ship free to the closest LKQ.
Mine was shipped from Oregon. Paint was perfect.
Picked it up in Stockton, 100 miles.
They would've delivered for $150-200.
Local shop said they'd install for $150.
I bet if you take away all the expense of the trunk, you can make out well.
Pocket a couple thou. Don't tell the insurance company! Ha!
