2004 c230 kompressor
Looking to buy a 2004 c230 compressor with 82000 miles. It looks the part and its well taken care off.
What should I be looking as a potential problem with the car.
Sale is for 2900 but negotiable. The cluster is dim but not gone.
Thank you for your input.
Biggest things to look for is oil in the connectors under the hood as there was a recall for that. Search the forum for this and you will find quite a few posts about it. Also when you start it, listen to see if you hear any clicking from behind the dash which will last about 30 to 45 seconds. If you do, that means there are broken actuator arms/stepper motor issues. Mine has one and I just live with it.

Sounds like you already know about the dash readout going dim when it's warm.
$2900 is a good price I think.
Front suspension, control arm bushings, strut bearing rubber.
Watch for vibrations when AC is on and you are stopped, switching to reverse (alternator overrun / sprag bearing).
Check that the transmission connector under the car is not leaking oil (otherwise the TCU in the passenger footwell will get soaked and will start malfunctioning).
If the car is well-maintained, ask them when the last oil changes were performed - engine, transmission, differential. Brake fluid (should be done every 2 years).
Kazi04 is talking about the cam adjustors/solenoids leaking. Oll gets to the ECU and wreaks havoc.
Ideally listen to the _first_ cold start after the car has been sitting overnight.
