Help please! What is the difference of these two engines???
Hello,

I was wondering if you might help me on this.

I have searched internet and i cannot find the real answer about these two different engines on the same model C220 CDI

First picture is on the W203 Classic 07/2003 , while the second one is on W203 Elegance 02/2003 both have 143ps(105kw)

Does this plastic cover is there for a reason or we are talking about same engine with only cover difference?

You need to figure out the engine models. To do that, you can post the VIN for each car and people will be able to tell you the engine model numbers.

But i dont have they VINs i was hoping to get some answer based on the photos!

left one is om646, right one om611. om611 is more reliable has no dpf and kind of very simple turbo. horse power is mostly the same 150 vs 143

You saying the for sure OM611 is more reliable?! how about the autobox do you know if the OM611 goes with 722.6 or 722.9?

As far as I know, pre-facelift versions both only available with 722.6.

Could you guys tell me from your experience how reliable is 722.6?

From what i read on internet it is confusing some say YES is reliable and it is better then 7g other say its way worst than 7g (722.9)

Apparently 722.6 was even used in some AMG models as it was able to handle higher torque than 722.9. Both transmissions may have issues with conductor plates etc. It seems to be the electronics that is finicky, in my opinion.

I have a 02/2003 Elegance (black) and 04/2005 Avantgarde (silver) and i cannot decide which one to choose, the Elegance is well maintained and has no need for extra money at the time, while Avantgarde in the other hand is not in pristine condition and needs some extra investments...

Should i go for Elegance or Avantgarde??
