Getting ready to do the $12 hose, pointers welcome

Hi,
So this will be the biggest thing I've done myself, and I've done quite a few repairs including replacing the alternator pulley, camshaft solenoids, transmission mount, fuel filter and vacuum pump, but this makes me nervous. The recall was done in 08 so I'm SOL for mercedes to do this.

Q: I got a set of 3 hoses, clamps, etc. (linked below) so this be more detailed than the DIY thread for the $12 hose. Has anyone actually done this since it requires removing the freaking supercharger?
Q: Do I have to disconnect the battery? I'm watching the MAF removal video and he does

Pretty easy DIY. All you have to remove is the airbox and it's associated plumbing, and the intake manifold. The intake manifold has some hard to reach nuts though, get a skinny extension with an a u joint. Use new gaskets for the manifold and don't over tighten. Don't forget the two bolts holding the intercooler outlet hose to the frame when removing the manifold.

I guess the question is. Is it worth it to replace the other 2 hoses? B/c it seems THAT would require taking off the supercharger. FML. I don't want to go further that the $12 hose if I can avoid it. But how to know...

And no, the SC is underneath the intake manifold, you don't need to remove it. As far as the battery, personally I don't disconnect it every time I'm digging under the hood, but it's your call...if in doubt then disconnect it. I've even removed the steering wheel airbag without disconnecting the battery. I hate having to reprogram my radio settings lol...

Even if you had to remove the SC at that point it wouldn't be hard...3 bolts and just move it aside....with the intake manifold removed, it's pretty accessible...after you remove the belt of course

This is a terrible idea unless you like the taste of airbag.

Disagree....as long as you don't ground something...which is why I use plastic/non conductive tools for it. With the car off the airbag circuits are not hot.
