engine oil level question

engine oil level question
Hi

I have a 2003 C240 V6.
I had oil change recently. I put in 7.5 qts during the oil change.

I check the engine oil level tonight and said I need to reduce engine oil. I extracted 1.7qts from the top. When I checked again, it's still telling me to reduce engine oil.

How much engine oil should I extract?

Are you confusing liters with quarts? did you change the oil filter? how did you extract the old oil? from top or bottom?
