2003 M-Benz Random wire hanging from engine bay area!
Ello, can someone please help me locate where this engine harness plugs into?
I opened my hood today and noticed there's just a plug hanging from near the engine bay and im afraid it may be a problem so i need to find out where that plugs into.
How did you manage to do that? Well that lead leads to the cam sensor thats on the front of the engine block. If you remove the front portion of the engine cover (pushing into those 2 silver hooks/hoops) underneath it should be 2 sensors , just connect it back up.
I'm not sure if I'm looking at the correct plugs but they both are connected on both sides. Can you confirm this? Also, that engine looks different than mine. I looked where the picture was taken but didn't figure out.
You need to take off the small front section of the valve cover. That will show you how the sensor is connected.
That may be a cam sensor wire extender that was accidentally left in the car. The "extender" was a change by MB so that when the cam sensor leaks oil, the oil won't travel down the wires and ruin the wires, the oxygen sensors, etc.
That cover just pops off. Look at the first ~1min of the following video:
