Fuel Consumption
Hello! I have a 2001 W203 C320. A year before i replaced my engine with a 2005 W211 E320 engine. It's the same engine bit i did not replaced the engine electrics and i noticed that the car is consuming fuel much higher than the old engine. The check engine light is off and the engine is running perfectly. Do the engine electrics differ between the old engine and the new one? Are engine electrics responsible of the high consumption of fuel?

Is your maintenance up to date? If not I would check tire pressures, exhaust, fuel trims, spark plugs, MAF, Air filters ect.
Also how much higher is it? How many miles were on the old engine vs new? Why did you replace old engine?

Hello samaritrey! Sorry for being late to reply. The old engine was overheated which damaged the heads gaskets so i replaced the engine. The spark plugs are new as the air filters. The bew engine is very smooth and very normal and it has the same performance as the old one. Everything is running perfectly except the fuel economy. It had 28 mpg on the highways and 19 in the city on the old engine. Now with the new engine it has arround 15 mpg on the highways and below 8 mpg in the city. But i don't know what are the fuel trims and the MAF?? Help please.
