Combo switch replace - no wheel sensor lock pin?
mine didnt come come with the lock tool and when I contacted the Mercedes parts source I ordered from they said it can be done without that piece
i am just very Leary if doing the repair and my steering wheel position sensor needing to be fixed after the repair because I don't have that plastic lock tool
can this be be done without that lock tool?

I did this on a W164, but currently the only doc I have printed out from the service DVD
is removing the steering wheel.
Investing in the service DVD is always worthwhile.
When and if I have time, I'll check the DVD.

for the number of the doc you need.
Did a search came up with the following...

209 and 203 are essentially the same car.

And you can use just anything to put in the hole to stop the angle sensor from rotating (I used a pencil). It really is just to keep the two pieces from rotating
Other than that went very smoothly
disconnected the battery and no srs errors
one point of caution for others doing it. When assembling the combo switch to the plastic trim. Be careful of the wires. The mounting guide easily catches on the wires and you have a change of breaking the wires during assembly
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my post and even to include pictures. It saved me a lot of time. I will now order my Christmas present to myself, a new combo switch. Hopefully for the New Year, I will not have to pull over to the side of the highway to pour washer fluid on my windshield to remove salt brine. I live in Northeast Pennsylvania. Again, thank you very much for sharing your information.
Happy Holidays
