Scratches and dings on CPO

Hi forum,

Just bought a CPO and when I was inspecting the car I saw quite a bit of dings on the hood and 2 scratches one on the side and another on the roof. The sales told me it's a CPO and not uncommon. I am new to buying CPO and thought what he said was right. But was talking to a friend who works at a dealership and said CPO cannot have any dings or chips. And then I found this:

https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/cpo#!...-certification

Under appearance it does say CPO should be free of dings or chips or scratches. I sent the sales person an email. I really liked his service but am now a bit disappointed.

What do you think should be the resolution? Will I be unreasonable to ask them to fix those defects?

All depends on how much you value your time. Not unreasonable to ask, but what do you do if they say no. We bought a '14 ML350 CPO. You could see where they carefully touched up all the dings, etc. 30k on the clock. What I didn't see was the really bad staining on the running boards. Had I seen it at the time of purchase, I would have tried to get the dealer to do something about it. When I saw it 2 days after purchase my first thought was caveat emptor. The dealer is 3 hours away. So I am as disappointed in myself as I am with the dealer for not doing anything about it prior to my purchase. I will likely buy a replacement set of sills now that another member of this forum pointed me to youtube videos about replacing same.

I bought a CPO early this year. What I learned was this- NO body damage or repairs are allowed to pass as a CPO EXCEPT- front and rear bumpers. For a CPO, it's ok for the bumpers to have been repaired, replaced, repainted.

Thanks for the response. Will see what response I get from my salesperson.
