Door lock problem
Hi all,
I have a C180K W203 model and I recently had the bouncing door lock problem. So I bought myself a little spring kit and replaced the old broken spring. I then tested it out and all seems well, locking and unlocking as usual. However when I put everything back together and close the door it started bouncing again. Through some playing around I realised that when the door is in the half lock position it does not bounce when locking but when the door is fully closed it bounces.. This is very strange and I cant seem to think of a reason why it would do this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Most obvious question - did you put the spring in the right spot?
When I performed this fix, my spring had actually popped out of place when it snapped. I almost put it into the wrong spot as well.
The correct spot is a tiny hole per side, about the same size as the diameter of the wire (ie just large enough to pop the spring wire in and rotate but not large enough for it to wobble around). There is a nearby "hole" in one of the pieces that is somewhat larger. This is NOT the correct hole.
Either that, or you received a defective spring, but this is rather unlikely.

An easy thing I did to mine to fix the bouncing was to take a small wooden 'toothpick' and jam it in between the black lock pin and its respective hole in the door. This is very much a band-aid fix but I've been going on 6 months with no more issues. Worth a shot and 30 seconds of your time and if it doesn't work not much is lost.

Yeah im fairly sure i placed it in the correct spot as I did some research on it beforehand. Maybe I just have a bad door lock mechanism itself. I will try the toothpick suggestion though thanks
