Merecedes belt change.

Whats up guys, i took my car for maintenance since i have warranty until 100k miles. they said i should change my belt since its worn and its been a while.

My advisor said it would COST $80 just for the belt and $70 for labor!

Off the bat i knew something was up so i hanged up and looked up on forums but i havent seen anything. Is the Belt - 7K X 2420 the right one for my car

Fwiw, I leg-hump Pelican Parts for buying most of my Benz stuff.
(They are also an official forum sponsor.)

I suggest you call them up. They were super awesome the first time I called.
They will make sure you order the right part.
They are not like many places, or sales people, that expect a customer to be a world top expert on ordering stuff for their car.

Hey, you want to know about Fox Mustang parts, I can talk someone's ear off. But, I was a newbie on Benz stuff.

Fwiw, I've bought "a few thousand dollars" worth of parts from Pelican Parts since this past summer. I'm doing an engine/etc rebuild/restore.

7K2420 is correct. Just installed the Continental and it works just as well as the original MB (Gates) one. I like the fact that unlike the MB one, the Continental has has a rough knurled pattern on the non-ribbed side. Should help prevent the slipping and squeaking problems I was having as the belt wore out over the years. The belt is very easy to change out. Less than 30 minutes from start to finish after the first time. Can't believe I paid a shop for such an easy job.

There are plenty of good sites out there for parts, such as Pelican, RMEuropean, ECS Tuning, FCP Euro, and AutohausAZ among others. As for which place is the best deal, it depends on the product. I find there's no one single clear winner, though RM tends to be my go-to personally. For me, the price after shipping is often what makes the difference between picking one vendor over another. Also, many of the non-routine products are often found on some sites but not others.

While the belt is off, check the alternator pulley to see if it's seized (it should freewheel with respect to the alternator in one direction and not both or none), as well as the idler and tensioner pulleys. Obviously it would be a good idea to check all pulleys, but the ones I listed there are known for going bad.
