Is the telephone antenna also for GPS?

Is the telephone antenna also for GPS?
For my 2006 C230 Sport Coupe (W203) I have just purchased a used OEM Radio with GPS. Before I start tearing things apart I would like to know if the Telephone antenna harness is also for the GPS or will I also have to purchase a GPS antenna. The car came with the standard Radio. I have noticed on the back of the new GPS head unit there are two fiber optic cable connections and wondering what their for?
