C230 Benz bumps bit*h

Today has been the worst day!!!

My 3 month old C230 met up with a Nissan Altima making an illegal left turn in front of me and you can see the result!!! I only had a couple of seconds to respond so I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could and let me tell you, they are awesome. Since we have the brake assist, it must have shaved about 20 miles per hour off my impact speed. The car kinda "hopped" as it tried to stop but unfortunately, she kept turning and I hit her. I wanted to kill her because she caused the first "blemish" on my baby!! I also want to note that this car felt so solid and safe upon impact, that I think it is worth every penny.

So sorry to see your car with such a scar. Hope you are not hurt. Since I just picked my car up today (well, yesterday as it's after midnight now) I hope I never have to experience the same. At least you have some good picks to nail the bit%#!!!!!! that caused this. I have had two severe accidents (at least damage to my cars) since I moved to New Mexico from California because of careless, senseless, stupid, drunk (shall I go on?) drivers!

Hope your wait time is short to have the doctor mend the wounds on your baby and has you back on the road soon.

sorry to hear about that, it especially hurt when it's new. I feel the pain even with a few paint chips on the hood. I can't imagine that. Hope there is no damage to the frame since the bumper got pushed in a little.

They say that it will be about 2 weeks to repair because it takes some time to get parts being that it is a new model so I get the honor of driving around a Buick Regal in the meantime which really adds insult to injury!!!!

There are shock absorbers between the bumper fascia and the structure to absorb minor, low-speed collisions like this without damaging the frame members.

MBtech-
Glad to hear that the shock absorbers are still there. I sometimes long for days of old when bumpers could withstand a bump (like when the toyota corolla had a major crumple but the rear bumper on my 300 diesel wagon had just a scratch).

The other side of this is that it's your body that absorbs the energy of the impact. Better be crumple zones!

W203 crumple zones

The W203 and CL 203 series also have a sacrificial bolted-on front "crashbox", which is in effect the frontmost portion of the unit body. Once the bumper shocks have done their jobs, it's next in the process. The crashbox is designed to absorb 100% of the impact forces in collisions up to 15 km/h (looks like yours was in that range) and simply be unbolted and replaced. So they may not even have to put your Coupé on "the rack" to stretch it back into shape. The only bummer is the repainting that will be necessary - insist on 100% quality control (no dust, no sanding marks, no mismatched paint).

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

By contrast, I had a lady rear-end my old car as I was driving to Mercedes to trade it in and pick up my C230K. Strange.
