Unhappy CD changer problem

Help, my CD changer stopped working. It is the Mercedes unit that is in the glovebox, 6 CD changer. It appears to be loading, but does not. Then it shows empty on the display and goes back to the radio.
I have tried it several times, was working in this past week, just not today. I put new cds in, ad side up, any suggestions before I have to take a special trip to the dealer?

Thanks,

No command, it is the add on unit in the glove box. Wonder if I disconnect the power to it and try it again after doing that?

Typical MB. They buy their components from low bid sources in China and guess what, they break! But to their credit, who else can sell a Chinese made CD changer for $1,000 installed.

low bid

I doubt that most C Class parts - that matter - are made in a Chinese sweatshop. On the other hand, it's nearly impossible to buy consumer electronic devices that are NOT made in China these days.

It is true about the price, it is a big joke. The 6 CD changer probably costs $35 to make and they try to sell it for HUGE $$$. The sooner guys like you can hack into M-B's proprietary programming system, the better. Just remember to share the knowledge

Hate to hear the common problem part, but thanks. Means a trip to the dealer and have it replaced. I hope this does not become a common occurrence!

I wouldn't have as much of a problem with that if they threw some of that money at Quality Assurance, which apparently they don't. Daimler is just shooting themselves in the foot that way; they've been number 1 for so long because of their rock-solid reputation. Now the Japanese (and Koreans) are gunning for that spot. Well, the best one wins. Gentlemen, restart* your engines...

Had it on mine

I had that problem about 3 weeks ago...
it just keeps searching for CDs and goes back to radio
very annoying cause it kept saying "magazine empty"
I brought it to the dealership and they replaced a new one under warranty.
The problems that keeps occuring now is the turn signal bulbs on the front.
last time was the left one and this times is the right one.
they had to change the whole headlamps in order to get it fixed, which means we have to wait them to order the parts in.
last week the rear stop light went off as well.
geez,.I'm becoming a regular weekly customer at the service department.
