Unhappy Engine remap DENIED - options?

hey guys and gals!

this is a sad day for me. I'll try to be as brief as possible.

my dad bought a 2002 C230 Kompressor sport coupe in 2007 (something to do with midlife crisis no doubt). he passed away in 2009 (thank you brain cancer). I had very little income at the time and I struggled to maintain the car, so in 2012 I ended up selling it for 5000 Euros and switched to a 2005 VW Polo 1.4 TDI that had 69 hp (yeah, I know, it hurt).

last December I stumbled upon the person I sold it to and told him "you know, I really miss that merc" to which he replied "how much can you give me for it?". long story short, I bought it back for 2300 Euros. it only has 167.000 km.

considering I am doing much better financially in the present, I thought about doing what I did with the Polo - giving it a remap for extra power. so last Friday I took it in for a ECU software scan which was then going to be analyzed by the guy doing the remaps to see what can be done.

today I get a call from the guy telling me he can't do anything because the parameter regarding supercharger boost cannot be altered I didn't take this very well as I was expecting a possible gain of at least 20 HP. I've seen youtube videos of my car that got remaps and the difference was impressive. in his defense, he did say that MY version of software does not allow modifications and that other Mercs he worked on actually allowed it.

this really irks me because one of the reasons why I bought this car back (other than the huge sentimental value of course) was to just have fun with all the 2.0 TDIs that seem to be everywhere these days. the fact that a remapped 2.0 diesel is going to be about as fast as a 2.3 supercharged gas (or petrol for you Brits) engine is downright depressing.

there is one other solution which is in the form of a supercharger pulley kit. but I was advised that it will considerably shorten the life of the supercharger.

so... the question is... what do I do? would it be worth it to take it in for an intercooler and intake clean? it is a 15 year old car after all, I'm sure some of the 197 horsepower have escaped. do you have any other suggestions regarding what I can do to get more power out of this engine? I plan on selling it in about 2-3 years anyway.

thank you for taking the time to read what has now become an actual novel

EDIT: attached a pic that might help.

alright so I did more digging on this forum and found out about ASP who still modifies the crank pulley for $450. plus I would need a longer belt that they sell for $32. plus shipping to them and back. plus I'm guessing about $50 to my mechanic to remove the pulley and reinstall the new part. plus I'd have to drive the Polo for around a month until everything gets sorted. all this for an added 28 horsepower... damn. and I won't get an increased volume for the supercharger whine noise which I was really hoping for.

edit: I can also pay kleemann in Denmark about 695 Euros excluding VAT for all the parts I need without having to take mine out. that would give me 225 HP / 330 NM.
edit2: nevermind, they just told me it's 973 Euros with VAT and shipping. that's just horrible.
