2005 C230 ESP/BAS release switch

I cant seem to find any info or Im just not looking in the right place but does anyone know how to remove the ESP/BAS release switch thats located on the brake booster without removing the master cylinder? My 05 C230 does not have a brake light switch by the brake pedal and I think this is the culprit for my car not wanting to get out of park. I usually have to turn the key to the 2 position, press the brake real hard then I can put it in drive. What I have now is a message on the screen that says ESP failure visit workshop. My cruise control does not work either but other than that the car drives fine. I have looked at the gear shift assembly and I can see the little piston that moves when I press the brake but it only moves sometimes and real slow at that so it is getting a signal from time to time, could it possibly be dirty? or stuck?

The brake pressure sensor on the master cylinder is usually the cause of this type of fault, it is screwed into the master cylinder and some fluid is lost when replacing the sensor. The BAS release switch is built into the brake booster and can not be replaced seperatly from the booster.
Hope this helps
