Replace 2002 C230K w/ 2015 BMW X1?

What do you think? We're considering replacing our 2002 C230K with a 2015 BMW X1. We're going to look at a fully loaded version with the sport package, six cylinder engine, and AWD, and less than 18,000 miles on the odometer. They are asking $31,000. It may ride to rough with the very low profile tires. Of course, we would have a hard time spending that much to repair our C230, and we like the car. However, the two doors and low position on the road are starting to be annoyances, as my wife will be 55 and I'll be 60 this year.

Not really a fair comparison.
Selling/trading the C230 would just pay
the registration fees and tax on a 'new' vehicle if even that.

Why bother 'replacing'? Just keep both.

If we decide to sell the C230K, we'll be sure to post a notice on this forum. Keeping more cars than we have garage space is not how we want to live. We have two of our garage spaces for cars, and the third for my radio restoration work shop and business supplies.

We liked the 2013-2015 X1 when they came out and we saw them at car shows, and now is the time to be looking for good low mileage examples of that vehicle. However, we've not yet driven any of them, so we need a good long test drive(s) to be sure it is something we'd like.

The noise which is probably in the transmission of the C230K is a concern, although I know I can buy a transmission new or rebuilt for a few thousand dollars. It operates just fine, so may just be something minor. Too bad I did not get the shop manuals when we bought the car so that I could study it. I wonder if I can find a transmission at a junk yard to study?
