scratched up console

scratched up console

I have a 2004 c230 coupe and today I was in it getting something out of the back seat. Well the thing I was getting out scratched up the console really bad. It is not like small little scatches on the surface but large, deep scratches that pulled up the surface. Is there anything that can be done to repair it?

You have three choices, buy an all wood interior center console like I did (Performance Products sells it now), get a carbon fiber center console, or buy the stock aluminum pieces from Mercedes.

Let me know how much they are, I have some for sale that look brand new.

It is the center front armrest storage area that I am talking about, not the aluminum console. Sorry about that!

if its the leather part the armrest then you can get that reapolstered or just buy another one from mercedes.

What color, I have an entire center console extra. Also you can get wood covers that got over the top.

It is charcoal leather. How much would it cost to get it reupholstered? Also, how much would it cost to buy another one from mercedes?

The vehicle in the US has a bumper to bumper warranty. Let the dealer replace it under warranty and it is free. I have seen smaller issues get replaced so this should not be a problem. Just tell them you do not know how it got there.

Best thing for you to do is to check locally. Stealer and shop prices vary widely. If you want a more detailed response you'll have to let people know where you are from.

A dealer would be really dumb to just warranty something like that. I dont think playing dumb on this is going to help him.

Just get the replacement top, its not plastic either, just cheapo plastic. Or you can take the part off and get it upholstered in real leather

That is what warranty is for. Unless they can prove that you purposefully did it. I have seen seat covers get warranty replaced for cic burns. Some dealers will do it, others will not. But a scratch in a panel on a new car should be covered. And it never hurts to ask. You can tell them the truth, they may be more willing to do it then. It does not cost the dealer anything, and the part most likely does not have to go back to the factory for viewing. Not everything needs to be returned to make sure there was a problem. Interior pieces are some of those items that do not go back. I have seen far worse things replaced under warranty by Daimler-Chrysler.
