I have a simple question… seeing as how this is my first post please don’t nail me too hard. I ordered my new car C240 yesterday and I expect it to arrive sometime within 2 weeks. My question is the following….Is there anywhere were I can get the software used by the dealers to make those simple mods like getting the alarm to chirp? Is there a connector and software available OEM anywhere?

Well welcome! Congrats on the c240! Most of us don't bite, but a few playful zingers have been known to get thrown -- of course, I don't take part in that at all
The answer to your question is no....sorry. There is a thread on it somewhere, you might want to search on "laptop". I have found that if I search, most of the time there are detailed threads on my questions.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I did the search and wow you were right...In depth information was availabe on exactly that. I guess I will have to continue reading to see what other great information is available here.

Welcome, Fernando. Your dealer must have found a car to your specifications already on the boat in order for you to get it in two weeks. My C230k was built to order and took 75 days. Others have waited as much as seven months for a C.

Thanks again everyone for the continued posts…. I’m told now that I may get the car Monday or Tuesday of next week….Just a few more sleepless nights

Even if it turns out to be a “logging Type” software it looks like it could be of interest. My friend has a simple data logger for his Talon which is nice to keep detailed engine information records which is nice to watch the car age and try some preventative maintenance.

Its as far as a basic scantool, ie can look at engine related data. Its open-source, for Linux - i.e anyone can download and play.
Theres a version up on sourceforge.com (search for freediag project), but please wait until the next release, the first has some bugs which means it wont work on many US cars ....
You need to buy/make a cheap interface - there will be some web pages soon with info about where/how
