need help cel code p0175

hey guys I need some help on fixing it. I can wrench but I don't have a clue on how to diagnose this issue on this car.

2007 C230 sedan
non compressor

19000 miles. original.
I am original owner.

just got the cel code recently after the dealership did their free diagnoses because they had one of those weekends that they offer this to past customers. not sure if they were the ones who did something to it to cause the cel issue. but to bring it back to them now they want to now charge me for a check up.

normally I have all my oil changes done at a local dealership. I have full record of it being serviced. and yes it was expensive.

on to the issue.
what I have noticed along with the code.
1. a month or so before the cel showed up, the engine temp on my gauge went up a little higher on the notch then it usually does. not sure if this is related to the cel but thought to mention it.
2. there is a whining noise under the hood. I looked under it but I cant tell where its coming from. its a new noise that I have never had before. it does increase as I accelerate the engine. not sure how its related tho.
3. I did clear the DTC a few weeks ago. the cel came back for about a few weeks. it went away now. I just did a scan again and the p0175 DTC is in the logs but the cel light is off. I decided to clear the DTC again even with out the light on but it is stored in the ecu, as of today. I then turn on the engine and noticed the engine did idle rough. so ill see what happens in the mean time with driving while I collect more info from the forums.
4. my fuel gauge is now not working. not sure if its related to this either. its stuck on 3/4 full. I do also have a fuel smell in the cabin which has been an on going issue for about 1-2 years. I thought I might just be a fuel gasket issue under the rear seat board but now the gauge is not working I am assuming the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. I wonder if the fuel pump is bad.

so I plan on driving it for a little more to see if it comes back. while I do that what do you guys think it could be so that when it does come back a third time ill just fix it at home.

thanks for any help guys.
