c230 2007 intake manifold replacement

Hello everyone, i'm a complete car newbie and i need some help.
My 2007 c 230's check engine light turned on, so i took it to the Mercedes Benz of Stevens creek dealer for the diagnosis, after all the diagnosis i was told i needed to get the intake manifold replaced and i was quoted 2404$ for it, i took my car from them and went to an independent garage and i was quoted 1763.78$ all inclusive of taxes etc for it which i think is way too high for an indy, well maybe they realized i'm absolutely clueless when it comes to cars, To break down the indy's quote i was quoted
1. 420$ for labor 3.5 hrs of it. 120$ per hour
2. 1180$ for the intake manifold part# 272 140 24 01
3. 10$ for the gasket part# 272 140 23 80
4. 10$ for the gasket part# 272 140 22 80
5. 30$ for 6 seals 5$ ea part# 013 997 90 45
And the remaining was tax

So next, i went online and checked for the parts online and i found that they were significantly cheaper, well mostly for the intake manifold at least.

1.Seals:

2.Gasket:

4.Intake manifold: ( i found a few websites with the same part but different prices, they're basically the same but)

So after i found out the parts are significantly cheaper if i buy them myself than going to the indy for them i called up the mechanic and asked him if i could get my own parts in and asked him to replace them and just charge me for labor, to which he said he wouldn't do that as he couldn't guarantee that the parts i get will work etc etc,for which i think he is BSing me and he also told me that even they don't use genuine Mercedes parts but rather OEM parts themselves, so i don't understand why they can't use the parts i give them.

And also i was wondering if i could just replace

this part?, and be done with it instead of replacing the whole intake manifold and potentially spend a lot of money in the process.

I would really appreciate some help on what i should do next and also of any good mechanics to fix my cars problem for me around the San Jose area as i recently moved here and i don't know who's a good and trust worthy mechanic around here for Mercedes cars.

First off, find another mechanic.

He should be more than willing to do the job with the understanding that he WILL stand by the work but NOT cover failure of parts provided by you -- an arrangement which I'm sure you are good with...

For $486 and free shipping, I'd be tempted to get that one and suggest you replace the whole darned thing yourself...
From what I've seen, it doesn't appear to be that difficult of a job.

If you're 100% certain that your issue points to failure of the part that AGA Tools has redesigned, it would certainly be attractive to go that route and again, perform the work yourself, saving tons of money.

There are some very solid solutions in the aftermarket to repair the lever assembly. I put this replacement kit together for anyone interested in repairing their existing manifold. This kit could potential save you hundreds in repair costs.

Possible to do on your own

Is it difficult to do this repair yourself?
